House Project #6: Front Bedroom and Guest Croffice

Back before my sister moved in at the beginning of September, I painted the room she's living in.

Front room, prior to moving in; the drapes are long gone - I put up a mini-blind
and added new curtains.

Nothing too fancy, just a nice blue (kind of green?), called Seaside Heights. The room is super bright with a south-facing window, so I was able to get away with a color that seems a little darker, but works well with the light.

The room is much more lived-in now, but we both like the color a lot.

In fact, I like it so much, that when I started painting the other front room (currently my bedroom, soon to be the guest/sewing room - more on that another day), I decided to use it as the bottom half, a la wainscoting. I had seen some ideas on pinterest and decided I like the two-toned paint style. Eventually I plan to add a bit of trim as a chair rail, but for now I like how it turned out. The upper half is Morning Sunshine, which I plan to use in the back bedroom (soon to be my bedroom - more on that later, too).

Somehow I'm always inspired to start painting at the end of the day. . .

Almost straight with the tape lines, and nothing a bit of chair-rail trim can't fix!

I even managed to line the border up around the door, two windows, and closet.
Of course, the uneven floor didn't help, but the magic of my handy level did.

The teal curtains I made work well with the paint - the blue on the bottom is
close to some of the blue on the top trim of the curtains.

The pictures don't do it justice, but the paint looks good in person, and the tones are well matched. I'm hoping to get the back bedroom painted and furniture switched around after I get back from CO while still on break through Thanksgiving. More updates to come!
