The blanket is complete!
I finished it by adding seed-stitch rows between the squares and between the rows, and by crocheting (as best as I know how) several rows around the edge.
square borders: seed stitch |
blanket border: crochet (kind of) |
It’s just the right size for a lap blanket, and nice and
warm. Considering the frigid temps we’ve had this last week, the warmth is
welcome!

This is such a cool project Meg! Congrats on finishing it up; now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labours!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kyle! And I am enjoying it - it's been cold lately!
DeleteFor some reason I was having trouble figuring out how you would best 'showcase' the squares. This is an amazing job that works so well!! Having a son named Skye, wish I'd known you 35 years ago (oh, yeah, you weren't born yet...) and I'd have commissioned this as a baby blanket for him then! Nice work. No, BEAUTIFUL work.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Careyleah! I played around with the placement - even took it out once I'd connected several rows of squares. I'm pleased with it now.
DeleteJust beautiful! I love the idea, and it came out sooo well! Miss You. Carol P.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carol! I'll bring it out to the island when I come visit in April. It was so easy - great for the occasional knitter - if you're interested!
DeleteGreat concept, to reflect the sky, and beautiful finished product, Meg. Congratulations on finishing - I know you've had a few :-) other things in the works.
ReplyDeleteMike S. :-)
DeleteThanks, Mike! I guess I have been a bit busy :)
DeletePerhaps this year we can do an extended project - like we planned last year. ? You were stalwart to continue on your own, with no trees or ground!
ReplyDeleteNice job Tootsie.
Thanks, Mom!
