All-in-all not a bad assortment; heavy on the fruit, which is to be expected, but more than just your standard "throw-the-fruit-in-the-crust-and-bake" variety. Not to say that there's anything wrong with that method of pie making, as it's been my go-to for a while. In fact, when people say they can't make a pie it makes me wonder if they realize it's a fairly simple process. I guess it's the crust that's seemingly scary, but with the par-bake and pre-made crusts available these days, there's almost no excuse to not make a pie yourself.
While 2011 may have been the year of the pie, I'm not done with my project yet. I did accomplish twelve new pies, but there are nearly three hundred left in the book, and at the rate I'm going, perhaps it will end up being the decade of the pie. Check back for future adventures in pie!
